Brighton

Yesterday I went to Brighton with some friends. We couldn't have picked a better day. In the morning we figure we should leave early so we would have plenty of time to look around and check out the Brighton attractions. On the way there the weather was your normal British weather. It was sunny one minute, then raining the next. It was about a 3 hour drive up there, this was the first time I had driven my new car some place far.
By the time we got there it was around 2pm, it was raining. We decided that since we would wonder around the town see what it had to offer.
We eventually found somewhere to eat. When we finished eating it was still raining, so we wondered round a little more and we found a mall, so we decided to stay inside for a while since it was drier inside. Afterwards we then processed to check out the beach despite the weather, and it was vacant.

By about 7pm we got to the venue for the gig, at Concorde 2. We were first in line, which was cool. We are sooo hardcore. The doors opened to the venue at 7:30 and when we go in it was partially seated area at the front with tables. We managed to get one at the front, lucky us! We were sat down for about an hour before they finally started to play. I was quite surprised at the amount of people at the venue, there was probably around 50? I have only been to gigs in London and they were packed, so this was pretty cool, since there wasn't so many crowds of people in the way.
I had planned to go to this event only to see Cary Brothers, because I'd heard some of his songs previously and I loved it. So when heard he was coming to the UK to do some gigs I had to go. I have previous heard about the Hotel Cafe tour, but I never knew they ventured out of the US. I figured this would be one opportunity I couldn't miss. I had planned on checking out the other artists on Myspace or something but I figured I would leave it as a surprise, since I kinda knew what to expect.
This gig was the most unique and defiantly the most interesting one I've been to so far. The fact that there are lots of different artists performing was great. If you've never seen it, it's defiantly somthing I would recommend checking out.
The artist that performed that night were; Tom McRae, Cary Brothers, Greg Laswell, Jim Bianco, Brian Wright and Catherine Feeny. All of which were amazing.

Here is the link to see some pictures of the event.

Hotel Cafe Tour 2008

The show finish by about 11:30, we stayed around and I brought a few cds that they were selling. I also managed to meet with a few of the artists after the show, I spoke with Catherine Feeny, she was very nice, I also got her to sign me a cd.

It reads: "Cheers Kevin - Enjoy"

I also had a quick chat with Cary too, which was awesome! I also got a signed cd from him too.

It reads: "To Kevin - You rule!"

I wished we had more time to stick around but we were kinda rushing a little because I had a long drive back home again.
By the time I dropped my friends home and I got home myself, it was around 4:30am, I immediately went:
head + pillow = sleep.

Facebook friend?

So recently I've been spending a bit of time on Facebook and I've been getting a lot of new friend invites from people from ages ago. It's quite strange finding out that someone you once knew from Year 1 remembers you from school. That's nearly 20 years ago!
Also I've noticed a lot of people who I knew from my high school, have also added me as well. (Facebook has probably implemented a new friend finding system).
Anyway, I wasn't really the most popular person in school, but it's strange how the people you never speak to adds you as a friend, it's crazy to see how people turn out too, I mean I don't think I've changed my since I was in school, but it seems like everyone is a different person now. People are starting new lives and even making new ones! Maybe I need to make a start at actually doing something with my life?

When I was younger I thought that my best friends from school and I would keep in touch for years to come, but now we hardly talk. Its strange how things never turn out as you'd expect them too.
I wonder how long before the "friends" I know now will forget about me? 10 years? 5 years? Tomorrow?

Birthday

Today is my birthday, yeah, it really is, but I'm really not that bothered anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old but I really don't like it when people make a huge fuss about my birthday. I mean when I was younger it was all about "Yay! Presents!!!"
But now, it just seems insignificant. I mean what does a birthday mean, really. It the anniversary of the day your mum tried her hardest to push your fat ass out her womb!
As a kid I can understand, because each year you are growing older and maturing (hopefully). But once you've matured surely you are just counting the years you've survived life. "Congratulations, you've made it another year and not died."
(Reading that back I realised how morbid that sounds.)

My parents aren't the usual type, what I mean by that is they stopped buying me presents on my birthday ages ago. I kinds stopped wanting things, so I didn't know what I wanted and neither did they, so they just stopped.
And by the way, people who ask for present, is stupid in my opinion, the whole point of a present is to be a surprise, same goes for Christmas.

So, in case you didn't realise, I haven't got any plans for my birthday. I'm just gonna do what I would normally do, that includes going to work.
I'm suppose to be having lunch with some friends tomorrow which will be cool, because I haven't seen them in a while. And that's about it really, exciting times on my birthday.

EDIT: The lunch thing didn't take.

Here is my one and only birthday card, its from my sister ^_^

Car News

So I think I should update and say that I put in a deposit for my car on Tuesday, which basically means I'm halfway to owning my car!! eeee! I so excited! The reason why I didn't post this before was because as soon as I got home on that day, I came home to sort out my insurance, which wasn't fun, spending lots of money again :(
Then afterwards I just plain forgot about this.
Today is just two days away till I get my car!! It cost me a lot of money, so I'm not going to try and crash this one. (Not trying to say that I meant to crash the other one of course! ^_^)

So I've now transfered sufficient amount of money from my savings account, to pay for the car and the insurance. Now I'm gonna be broke for the next couple of years, probably won't have enough money for petrol! I'll just keep the car on the drive at admire at the fact I just spent all my savings on it.

Hopefully come Tuesday I will be able to drive home in my new car, yay! Then.....FREEEEDOM! I can go anywhere I want. (well almost)

I'll update more once I actually get the thing, then I'll post pictures and everything. See ya later.

Random Stuff

I felt like writing a blog today, but I haven't really been up to much recently, so don't expect this to be the most exciting thing in the world.
I've been spending a lot of time at home recently, because I can't really go anywhere at the moment. So I've been re watching a lot of TV shows like Buffy and Angel. I've also recently found a new show that I like, Supernatural. It reminds me of the old Buffy episodes when they thought: "Hey, maybe we should have something else in the show instead of JUST vampires." For those of you who haven't heard of Supernatural, it's about two brothers who go around hunting Demons. If you like Buffy, I'm sure you'll like this.
I've also picked up my guitar...then put it straight back down again, seriously, I don't have any musical talent in me at all. I think I'll just stick to silly plastic ones, like Guitar Hero.

I've also started getting back into magic again, looking at all my old tricks practicing them, improving on old techniques I've also be thinking about getting some new stuff. Obviously I can't talk too much about this, or I'll have to kill you, haha. It used to be really easy to improve my tricks when I was in college, because there were lots of people I can practice my tricks on. But now I have no friends.

Still not got a car yet, should have one soon I hope, I'm sure I'll blog about it when I do, I have a car in mind, I won't say what I'll leave it as a surprise, as I probably won't get it anyway.
I think thats about it really, I did do a little painting awhile ago, I'll link to that here I guess, I don't think it's really that good, but you can tell me what you think if you like.
Okay thats all, stay safe kids. Bye!

Crazy Weather

So I was on my way to work today and the strangest thing happened. It was snowing and it was sunny at the same time. The snow didn't settle of course because it wasn't cold enough it kinda just melted as soon as it hit the ground.
I'm sure it's suppose to be Spring now, I guess that whole Global Warming fiasco is working out as planned.
It was the first time I've ever experienced this. I figured I had to document this so I took a few pictures.

Anyway, that's pretty much the most exciting thing that has happened all week, I'll update when anything remotely interesting happens, which probably won't be anytime soon...

I went Shopping!

No, I didn't go and buy all the latest "fashion" designs, nor did I but any random gadgets that I don't actually need (which is a first). I went car shopping, well to be honest I didn't really buy anything so technically that doesn't really count as shopping. I guess it was more car window shopping? But doesn't that imply I went shopping for car windows...?

So yesterday I went car shopping with my parents, we had look at a few cars, there was a few that I liked, one for around £8000, its not cheap I know, but its pretty cool, but today I came back with a quote from the insurance people and apparently its going to be £2600!! I think since I did have an accident it'll certainly put a dent in things! On the plus side I did learn lots of stuff about buying cars etc, which I'd never had a clue about before, so I think I'm all clued up at the moment.

I'm trying to think of a realistic car that I can afford to get, but I have no idea what kind of car I want. I know a fair bit about cars, but I don't really want a small car, I would prefer a 4 door type, because its more convenient. The small cars always seem so cramped inside. I mean, I'm not exactly a big person, in fact I'm quite the opposite, but if I want to move my seat back a little the person behind me is going to get squashed, sacrificing his space for mine. Also the whole 3 door thing, if someone in the back has to get out of the car, someone in the front has to get out and pull the seat down, it just seems tedious to me. Maybe I'm being too picky, I mean it is going to be my first car (technically) I guess.

Here are a few that I've considered:

This one is perfect, it's brightly coloured, and it can also fly, perfect fot those traffic jams.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Or how about this one, it'll be good for the whole carbon whats-it-doodle. It runs on trash, if I remember correctly. Would also save me money on petrol, this one also flies too.
Delorean

What do you reckon?
